ONE OF A KIND: PETTIBONE TRAVERSE

  • Features a traversing boom carriage that can move loads by traveling horizontally.
  • Provides 70 inches of horizontal boom transfer.
  • The only machine currently on the market with this capability.

WHY THE TRAVERSE IS ADVANTAGEOUS ON ROUGH TERRAIN

Because the traversing boom slides forward to place the load, there is no need to reposition the machine once it is lined up. Operators can focus on moving the boom as needed, rather than driving the entire machine forward or backward on rough, unstable terrain.

WHY IT’S EASIER TO LAND A LOAD WITH THE TRAVERSE

Using the Traverse, an operator can simply place a load on the target landing, release the contact of the forks, and traverse the boom carriage rearward to disengage the forks.

With a traditional fixed boom, the operator must account for withdrawing the forks out of the load with enough rearward travel for the fork tips to clear the landing zone. This requires the operator to coordinate several motions of the controls at once, leading to intermittent contact with the load or the landing.

HOW TO ACHIEVE HIGHER LANDING HEIGHTS WITH TRAVERSE

Fixed boom telehandlers can lose about 3 feet off their advertised lift height after accounting for the required boom maneuvers. Therefore, a 44-foot fixed boom may deliver only a 41-foot landing height.

Because of the simplified motion utilized by the Traverse, the resulting landing height is the same as the lift height.
